Search for miner yields another man's body

- Artemio Dumlao -

Tuba, Benguet, Philippines – Teams searching for a miner still missing in a landslide instead found the body of a man in the Bued River in Rosario, La Union yesterday morning.

Aided by military K9 rescue dogs, the search for miner Cipriano Millet has been going on for seven straight days from the creeks in Barangay Kias in Baguio City to as far as downstream of the Bued River in Tuba, Benguet to Camp 1 in Rosario town.

Last Tuesday afternoon, the decomposing body of John Guinoban, of Sadanga, Mt. Province, was found on the banks of the Bued River, bringing the number of miners who died in the landslide triggered by typhoon “Kiko” to 13 and leaving Millet the only one missing.

The Benguet police said it would continue to look for Millet, hoping that he is still alive. Authorities have yet to find clues on the identity of the man whose body was found yesterday.
