2 Batangas barangay chairmen shot dead

BATANGAS, Philippines – Two barangay chairmen were killed in separate ambuscades in Lemery and Nasugbu towns Thursday, police said.

Senior Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Batangas police director, identified the victims as Julian Bathan, 56, chairman of Barangay Maigsing Dahilig in Lemery, and Alberto Rogador Jr., 59, chairman of Barangay Tumalim in Nasugbu.

Reports said Bathan was about to ride a mobile patrol vehicle after meeting with a relative when he was waylaid by two men Thursday morning.

Later that day, Rogador was on board his Mitsubishi Pajero waiting for a friend when two motorcycle-riding men shot him from behind several times. – Arnell Ozaeta, Ed Amoroso, Non Alquitran and Cecille Suerte Felipe
