-

MANILA, Philippines - A 68-year-old grandmother and her four-year-old grandchild were pinned to death by concrete slabs and cascading soil during a landslide in Antipolo City past midnight yesterday.

It took disaster and rescue teams several hours to extricate the bodies of Conchita Rosimo and her grandchild, Edralin, from their collapsed home in Barangay San Isidro, said Senior Superintendent Ireneo Dordas, Rizal police director.

Rosimo and her grandchild, and another family member, Rose, 26, were sound asleep when the landslide struck. Rose, who is nine months’ pregnant, sustained injuries. – Non Alquitran
