Alleged NPA killed in Bataan encounter

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga , Philippines    – A suspected ranking officer of the “Rebolusyunariong Hukbo ng Bayan,” a break-away group of the New People’s Army was killed while another one was arrested during an encounter with government troops in Barangay Cataning, Hermosa, Bataan, Saturday night.

Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo de la Cruz, Central Luzon police director, identified the slain rebel as Alvin Yandan alias Ka Bingbing, head of the RHB of Area Party Collective in Dinalupihan and Hermosa in Bataan.

De la Cruz said Lucito Canete was forced to surrender when Yadan was shot and killed by government troops. He said that during an exchange of firefight, a certain Zenaida Cortez, 45, a resident of Barangay Cataning was wounded and she was immediately taken to Bataan General Hospital for treatment.       – Ric Sapnu
