Radioman's cop 'killer' charged
MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed murder charges with the Department of Justice (DOJ) yesterday against a policeman who was arrested for the killing of radio commentator and former Occidental Mindoro vice governor Crispin Perez Jr.
Perez’s wife Irene sought the indictment of PO2 Darwin Quimoyog, tagged as the one who gunned down her husband, a radio commentator of dwDO, outside their home in San Jose City last June 9.
During investigation, Mrs. Perez said she saw Quimoyog in their house at around 8:30 a.m. that fateful day, thinking he was just seeking free legal assistance from her husband who was also a lawyer.
When Perez ended the 25-minute meeting and led Quimoyog to the door, the latter allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the former, killing him on the spot with two gunshot wounds in the back. – Edu Punay, Sandy Araneta
