2 kidnappers nabbed in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested over the weekend two members of a kidnap-for-ransom syndicate tagged as the abductors of an Indian national in Cavite on June 8.

Calabarzon police director Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad said the suspect, Jam Marie Arceo, 24, and her teenage housemaid were arrested by elements of the Cavite police and Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response at 11 a.m. on June 13.

Palad ordered a manhunt against a certain Special Investigator 3 Junnel Malaluan, allegedly of the National Bureau of Investigation who was tagged by the suspects as the mastermind in the abduction of the victim, Sowaib Mosa, 20.

In his report to Palad, Senior Superintendent Jonathan Miano, Cavite police director said Mosa, a tricycle driver, was abducted by four armed men at Phase 12 Malaria, Caloocan City at 3 p.m. on June 8.

Introducing themselves as agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the suspects handcuffed and blindfolded Mosa and brought to an unknown safehouse.

The following day, the kidnappers contacted Mosa’s wife, Raihanie and demanded P300,000 as ransom.

However, the wife managed to produce only P100,000 and sent it to the kidnappers on June 11 through the Western Union.

The victim managed to escape from his captors at 4 p.m. that same date and sought police assistance.

The suspects were arrested during a raid at their safehouse at Block 6 Lot 12 Phase 10, corner Gozon and Kiamzon Sts., in Pasong Buwaya, Imus, Cavite.
