Robber kills Red Cross volunteer

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A robber shot dead a popular Red Cross volunteer in Central Mindanao as she was about to enter a supermarket here Saturday afternoon.

The victim, Bai Aleta Palileo Sinsuat, 60, was about to enter a store with two companions, when the robber tried to grab her bag and shot her with a caliber .45 pistol in the chest when she resisted.

Sinsuat, younger sibling of Bai Fatima, a key Red Cross official here, had been in the forefront of relief work for thousands of Muslim residents still in different evacuation sites in Maguindanao. – John Unson
