Suspect in cop's slay slain in Batangas shootout
BATANGAS, Philippines – Police operatives shot dead a suspected cop-killer in an encounter in Tanauan City yesterday morning, police said.
Senior Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Batangas police director, identified the suspect as Danilo Erlano, 49, alias Dakne, a resident of Tanauan City.
According to reports, operatives from the Tanauan police station were about to serve a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Arcadio Manigbas of RTC Branch 6 against Erlano in his residence at RR Alley, Barangay Poblacion 7 around 11:30 a.m.
Gatchalian said combined elements of the Tanauan police, Batangas Police Provincial Office and the Provincial Intelligence Branch were about to knock on Erlano’s door when they were allegedly fired upon. – Arnell Ozaeta
