Isabela mayor hurt in ambush

MANILA, Philippines – The mayor of Maconacon, Isabela is fighting for his life after he was ambushed by a lone gunman in front of a computer shop in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan yesterday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Roberto Damian, Cagayan Valley police director, said Maconacon Mayor Francisco Talosig underwent brain scan at the St. Paul Hospital due to a gunshot wound in the right side of his neck.

Talosig was on board a Hyundai Grace van with police escort PO2 Ferdinand Allauigan and two councilors when he was shot. – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Charlie Lagasca
