60 rescued off Palawan island

BATANGAS, Philippines – The Coast Guard rescued 60 passengers of a motorized banca whose engine conked out off the island of Dumarag in Palawan Monday afternoon.
Petty Officer 1 Danilo de la Cruz, officer-in-charge of the Palawan Coast Guard, said they responded to a radio message from a certain Capt. Velasco of M/V Jagviraj about a distress call from M/L Rick-Rick.
Reports said the M/L Rick-Rick was bound for Cagayancillo en route to Puerto Princesa City when it experienced mechanical trouble. – Arnell Ozaeta
