Fisherman drowns during Typhoon Crising

LUCENA CITY, Philippines  A fisherman drowned after chasing his fishing boat that was cut off due to strong winds brought by typhoon Crising at Barangay Talao-talao, here, on Friday morning.

Police Superintendent Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan identified the fisherman as Ricardo Canones,68 married and residing at Barangay Talao-talao. Ylgan said that around 8 a.m. Friday, along the seashore at the said place, the lifeless body of the victim was found floating by his neighbors.

Investigators said Canones was last seen with his son Ronillo while checking the fishnet when suddenly the rope tied to the fishing boat was cut off due to heavy rains and strong winds prompting the victim to swim and chase the fishing boat but he drowned.       – Michelle Zoleta
