Municipal official slain

COTABATO CITY , Philippines – The municipal accountant of Parang, Maguindanao was killed and his driver was wounded in an ambush in Maguindanao yesterday, just three days after suspected guns-for-hire killed an election officer in North Cotabato.

The slain accountant, Ireneo Frondoza, and his security escorts were on their way to the Parang town hall when they were waylaid. Frondoza’s driver, Rommel Emolaba, was wounded.

The ambush took place less than 300 meters away from the municipal police station.
