-

Sablan, Benguet, Philippines – Already cold dead, 20-year-old Jeffrey Kayachen was dug up by rescuers from the boulders and concrete of the rip-rap wall they were constructing here on Friday afternoon.

Kayachen, according to private rescue group “911 on Call” chief Paeng Valencia was no longer breathing when retrieved from the very heavy rubble while his two other co-workers Renkin Cachater and Ernesto Catalino, both 33, were rushed to the hospital.

The trio are all from Pinsao barangay in Baguio City and had been working on contract on the rip-rap wall for days already.

Meantime, four passengers of a lowland-bound bus were rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for injuries they suffered when the vehicle turned on its side along the Naguillan Road in Barangay Irisan Saturday morning.

Rescuers named the victims as: Ely Duwawing, 11, Wilhelmina Gomez, 58, and Mario Iweton, 28; all from Lucnab, Baguio City, and the fourth victim – Guellermo Lavio, 59 from Kias, also in Baguio City. – Artemio Dumlao
