Ex-Intelligence Service regional chief dies after ambush

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – A former regional chief of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) died last Saturday, a day after he was waylaid in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, police said.
Reports said Lauro Parallag, who retired from the military about five years ago after more than 35 years in the service, died while doctors at the Catholic Church-run Saint Paul Hospital in Tuguegarao City were trying to remove a slug from his head. – Charlie Lagasca
