Philippine National Construction Corp official ambushed
Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna , Philippines – An official of the Philippine National Construction Corp. was killed in an ambush by still unidentified men while on his way to work in Cabuyao, Laguna yesterday morning, a police official said.
Police Senior Superintendent Moises Pagaduan, Cabuyao police chief identified the victim as Rolando Serrano, 49, chief investigator of the PNCC, a resident of Barangay Bilog-bilog Tanauan City, Batangas.
According to reports, Serrano was traversing the national highway in Barangay San Isidro aboard his Toyota Corolla (TMJ-893) when he was waylaid by still undetermined number of assailants around 6 a.m.
Police said the victim died on the spot after sustaining two gunshot wounds in his left portion of the face and head from a .45 caliber pistol.
Probers said the suspects fled toward unknown direction. Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol.
Investigators discounted robbery as the motive of the shooting since the victim’s money, cellphone, gun and other personal belongings remained intact.
Authorities have yet to gather more evidence and testimonies to determine the real motive of the killing.
“We are gathering evidence as of now and trying to have witnesses who could describe the identity of the suspects through cartographic sketches. We will invite some bystanders, including the relatives and family of the victim,” probers said. – Arnell Ozaeta and Ed Amoroso
