Isabela mayor faces nepotism case

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman confirmed that it is filing nepotism charges against Mayor Amelita Navarro of Santiago City, Isabela before the Sandiganbayan.

Assistant Ombudsman Jose de Jesus Jr. said the case stems from a complaint filed by councilor Lydia Makiling three years ago questioning Santiago’s appointment of her husband, Jose, as a board member of the Santiago City Water District.    – Michael Punongbayan, Charlie Lagasca
