Landmine kills soldier, hurts 3

-

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A soldier was killed while three others were wounded when their vehicle hit a landmine believed planted by communist rebels along the road connecting Dalisay in Panabo City and Paradise Embac in Davao City yesterday morning.

The soldiers were on their way to Paquibato proper to hold a dialogue with villagers on government programs and also conduct a survey on health problems in the area.

Armed Forces’ Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman Maj. Randolph Cabangbang identified the slain soldier as one S/Sgt. Acosta, and the three wounded only as Sgt. Ascalul, Cpl. Cutaran, and Pfc. Trinidad. – Edith Regalado, James Mananghaya
