Moro rebels attack public market
COTABATO CITY – Hundreds of villagers fled to safer areas after Moro rebels pounded with rockets a public market in a hinterland barangay in North Cotabato before dawn yesterday, wounding two residents, authorities said.
Alamada Mayor Ernesto Concepcion said two teenagers, Marivic Talaman, 16, and Sheila Dallos, 14, suffered injuries when the rockets the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) guerrillas had fired landed on their houses in Barangay Dado.
Resident Minda Sandoval, 26, said she and her neighbors fled when rockets and shoulder-fired 40-mm projectiles rained on their village. – John Unson
