Rains ground 'Balance Piston' start

-

ILOILO CITY – Filipino and US soldiers kicked off yesterday the “Balance Piston 09-01” at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.

Heavy rains, however, grounded the actual start of the military exercise, leaving the participants attending classroom lectures instead, said Capt. Renante Besa, acting information officer of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.

In a statement, Besa said Balance Piston 09-01 is a joint training exercise involving 141 men of the 3rd ID and 31 US soldiers.

The training includes civic action programs as well as exercises on marksmanship, combat maneuvering, jungle survival, and combat lifesaver. It will end on Feb. 20. – Ronilo Ladrido Pamonag and James Mananghaya
