The wives of three policemen taken hostage by the New People’s Army (NPA) during an ambush last Jan. 3 have asked Rizal Gov. Jun Ynares Jr. to secure the safe release of their husbands.

The wives of Inspector Rex Cuntapay and PO1s Marvin Agasen and Alberto Umali sought an audience with Ynares last Thursday to seek his help, said Senior Superintendent Ireneo Dordas, Rizal police director.

Rebels belonging to the NPA’s Narciso Antazo Aramil Command seized the three policemen during an ambush in Rodriguez town last Jan. 3, that left another lawman dead and two others wounded. – Non Alquitran
