VIGAN CITY – A 62-year-old man was killed when a lighted cigarette caused a fire that razed a three-story store selling firecrackers here on New Year’s Eve, police said.

Firemen retrieved the body of Florencio Que in the debris of the FQ grocery store on Salcedo street. Four others, including a seven-year-old child, sustained injuries.

Police arrested Richard Pugal, 21, whom witnesses said was the one who threw the lighted cigarette that landed on a heap of firecrackers.  – Teddy Molina
