Bataan cops bust cell phone snatchers

BALANGA CITY – Police authorities here have busted a dreaded cellphone snatching syndicate operating in this city and two of its neighboring towns with the arrest of the alleged mastermind in his house in the upland village of Tuyo here on Friday afternoon.

Superintendent Benjamin Silo, Jr., Balanga City police chief, told The STAR that the alleged mastermind is Christopher Diaz of “Toper Gang” of Sitio Nagkamayan, Barangay Tuyo, this city, while reportedly waiting for a couple believed to be the buyers from the nearby province of Pampanga.

Police recovered a homemade .38 caliber revolver with six bullets, three latest model cellular phones and a tricycle believed being used in spotting would-be female victims.

Two other suspects, Francis Bruno and Michael Magat, reportedly residing in Sitio Monica, Barangay Tuyo, this city eluded police dragnet when an alleged contact warned them of the approaching police team. They reportedly left Balanga City and maybe hiding in a coastal town of Pampanga or Olongapo City. – Raffy Viray
