-

Batangas City – The Batangas Coast Guard confiscated a cache of firearms and ammunition from a female trader bound for Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro here on Monday morning, an official said.

Lt. Cmdr. Troy Cornelio, Batangas Coast Guard chief, said the cache was confiscated from Albertina Morales, who is reportedly connected with a company involved in guns and ammunition.

Cornelio said joint elements of the Coast Guard’s K9 unit, Batangas boarding team and Southern Tagalog field station team were conducting an inspection on board M/V Supercat 20 when they chanced upon the cargo.

Upon verification, Morales failed to show pertinent documents for the possession and transport of the firearms and ammunition with an estimated value of P209,595. – Arnell Ozaeta
