40 Transco towers in Mindanao downed from bombings

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A total of 40 National Transmission Corp. towers have been toppled since terror bombings by armed groups started late in the 90s, Transco spokesperson Raffy Magbanua in a press statement said.

Magbanua made the disclosure after two Transco towers were bombed in the western province of Bukidnon shortly before dawn Sunday.

According to Magbanua, still unidentified armed group placed detonated bombs on towers 231 and 222 located in the hinterlands of Panadtalan village in Maramag town.

Magbanua said the two towers are carrying major trunk lines which are supplying power to the 69KV transformer located in Barangay Natumulan, Tagoloan Misamis Oriental which is a major source of electricity to electric cooperative firms that supply electricity to major Northern Mindanao areas, including some parts of Caraga.    – Ben Serrano
