3 hurt in Jolo grenade explosion

-

A retired school principal and two family members were critically wounded in a grenade blast in downtown Jolo in Sulu Friday night, the police said.

Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao, police director of the Automonous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARRM), said the victims – retired school principal Wannar Abdulhalim; and Rhena, 33, and Zenrazik, 15, Abdulhalim – were inside their house in Barangay Walled City when they noticed three men roaming around their residence.

Several minutes later, one of the three men lobbed a grenade inside Abdulhalims’ house. The three then fled toward the Jolo School of Fisheries.

In Pikit, North Cotabato, an out-of-school youth was seriously wounded when a grenade was also hurled at his house Saturday night, police said. – Jaime Laude, John Unson
