Fire razes Bulacan firm's 4 warehouses
GUIGUINTO, Bulacan – A two-hour fire gutted four warehouses of a plastic factory here early yesterday morning. No one was reported injured.
Fire Superintendent Absalom Zipagan, provincial fire director, said they were still investigating the cause of the blaze that razed the warehouses of Konka International Manufacturing Corp. in Barangay Sta. Rita starting at 2 a.m.
The company is reportedly owned by a certain Betty Co, who also owns Alpha Plus Manufacturing whose plant in Barangay Banga 2nd, Plaridel town was also gutted by fire last April.
The fire reached general alarm, drawing fire trucks from all 21 towns and three cities of Bulacan. It was placed under control at around 4 a.m.
Zipagan said finished products, equipment, and a Toyota Lancer were among those destroyed.
Residents complained that thick black smoke still billowed from the site, causing many to experience chest pain.
Some residents said they heard a loud explosion from the Konka compound minutes before the fire struck.
