Guard attacks Sino company manager in Dinagat

BUTUAN CITY – The Chinese general manager of a local mining firm, Century Peak Mining Corp. (CPMC) was hospitalized last Friday after one of the company’s security guard attacked the executive at his office in Sitio Cambinliw, Barangay Santiago, Loreto town in Dinagat Island.

Loreto police investigators identified the victim as Nan Peng, 45, from Beijing, China. The suspect company guard Rowel Palormo Osiang, 34, a resident of Dinagat Island, was arrested after the incident.

Police said Nan was inside his office and was giving instructions to his employees when Osiang entered the room and immediately hit the victim in the forehead with a large rock.

The other employees prevented the suspect from further attacking Nan who was brought to Loreto District Hospital for head injuries.

Police said they are still investigating the motive of the suspect who is now detained at the Loreto police station.
