LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – A policeman being probed for his possible link to the gunslaying of Agno Mayor Arthur Cabantac is willing to undergo a lie detector test.
Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez, provincial police director, said the lawman, whose name remains undisclosed pending the investigation, has also given a statement disproving the allegation against him.
Nerez told The STAR the policeman underwent a paraffin test and his firearm was subjected to a ballistic test but the results were not yet available as of press time.
The policeman was said to be at odds with Cabantac and has allegedly aligned himself with the slain mayor’s political rivals.
He was transferred to San Quintin town and is now under police custody after he was implicated in the killing.
Up to now, Nerez said witnesses were still hesitant to surface, but he is hoping that they will soon help probers solve the killing.
Cabantac was gunned down while playing mahjong in a neighbor’s house Saturday night.
