Kidnap suspect’s wife nabbed for conspiracy

Police arrested a woman police major for alleged conspiracy with her husband, also a police major, in the kidnap-murder of a retired pilot and his driver in Cavite last month.

The arrest of Chief Inspector Penelope Cautiver, wife of detained suspect Chief Inspector Exequiel Cautiver, was made by virtue of an arrest order issued by Judge Pedro de Leon Gutierrez of the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 119 for her alleged participation in the complex case of kidnapping for ransom with double murder.

Exequiel Cautiver has been under police custody for the abduction and killing of Demothenes Cañete and his driver, Allan Garay.

He was tagged in the crime along with former Cavite vice mayor Victor Carungcong, barangay tanod Alejandrito Entolizo Jr., and pedicab driver Gary Pateo.

Police said Penelope Cautiver was arrested by her superior officers from the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management where she is assigned.   – Cecille Suerte Felipe
