3 suspected rebels nabbed in Bataan

BALANGA CITY – Three suspected members of the Rebolusyonariong Hukbong Bayan (RHB), a Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army breakaway group allegedly operating in the coastal villages of Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan provinces were arrested on Friday afternoon in Barangay Sapa, Samal town, this province.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan, Bataan police director, identified the suspects as Sonny Bautista alias Ka Boysen; Albert Datu alias Ka Ambet and Jeremy Medina alias Ka Saddam, all residents of Barangay Sapa, Samal town.

Gaerlan told The STAR that a joint Army and police intelligence operatives led by Chief Inspector Cesar Lumiwes, head of the Bataan police Intelligence and Investigation Branch, armed with a search warrant issued by then Judge Benjamin Vianzon, Regional Trial Court Branch 1 against Harold Gadian and Jose Gonzales for the crime of murder, both of them residents of Barangay Sapa, Samal town were also captured.

While the government troopers were approaching the alleged hideouts of Gadian and Gonzales, several persons scampered to different directions that prompted the law enforcers to chase them and successfully collared the three active RHB members.

The suspects peacefully gave up when they found themselves surrounded and outnumbered after a few minutes of chasing in a landlocked community. – Raffy Viray
