4 more charged in Laguna bank rob
Four more suspects have been charged for the bloody robbery at the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) branch in Cabuyao, Laguna last May 16.
Police included Crisanto Alvarez, Jake Javier, Eugenio Hilario and Jun Alvarez in an amended information submitted to the provincial prosecutor’s office last Wednesday afternoon.
The Calabarzon police earlier filed charges of multiple counts of robbery with homicide against Jesus Narvaez, Joel de la Cruz, former Army soldier Ricardo Gomolon, Danilo Letoquet, Allan Bago, a Jane Doe and several John Does.
Chief Superintendent Ricardo Padilla, Calabarzon police director, said the charges were anchored on the confession of Crisanto Alvarez, who admitted acting as a lookout during the robbery at the RCBC branch at the
Alvarez tagged Montano Tolentino and Pepito Magsino, who were killed in separate police operations in Tanauan, Batangas, as the masterminds of the robbery, which left eight bank employees, a security guard and a client’s representative dead.
Relatives of Tolentino and Magsino earlier had sought the assistance of the Commission on Human Rights, which ruled that the two were victims of a rubout.
Padilla expressed optimism that the case will eventually be solved with Alvarez’s confession. Police have launched a massive manhunt for the other suspects.
Alvarez surrendered to the police P26,000, which he said was part of the P400,000 that he got as share of the loot.
In sworn statements, witnesses positively identified Alvarez as the man they saw at a tricycle terminal near the RCBC branch while the heist was taking place. – With Ed Amoroso
