DAR-ARMM exec, husband shot dead

COTABATO CITY – Motorcycle-riding men gunned down a cashier of the Department of Agrarian Reform in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and her husband at a busy intersection here Wednesday.

Senior Superintendent Willie Dangane, city police chief, said Bai Hija Mama­luba-Agon and her husband Jay Agon, who got married only recently, were both declared dead on arrival at the Cota­bato Regional Medical Center here.

Dangane said husband and wife were on their way home on their KIA car when the suspects, riding a Honda XRM bike in tandem, overtook them and opened fire, hitting them in their heads.

Dangane said the couple had received death threats and that probers had been told that “personal grudge” was behind their killing. – John Unson
