3 dead, 6 injured in tricycle-bus collision

UMINGAN, Pangasinan – Three persons were killed while six others were injured when the tricycle they were riding was accidentally bumped by a bus along the national road in Barangay Gonzales in Umingan town at dawn Sunday.

The casualties were identified as Carlito Cariaso, 38, driver of the motorcycle and his two passengers, Anthony Feliciano, 16, and Alberto Esteban, 54, all residents of Barangay San Juan, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

The other injured passengers were Pat Gonchita, 50; Gregorio Esteban, 13; Arlene Med­riano, 26; Dave Domingo, 10; Kristene Medriano, four and Daryl Domingo, seven, all from the same place.

The driver of the Tuguegarao-Isabela-bound REM Liner bus identified as Danilo Sumido, 50, of Cabagan, Isabela voluntarily surrendered to police authorities, the report gathered said.

It was reported that the tricycle was heading towards east direction when it was accidentally bumped from behind by the said bus.

As a result, Cariaso, Feliciano, and Alberto Esteban sustained severe head and body injuries and died on the spot. They were brought to a funeral parlor for autopsy.

The injured victims were brought to the Umingan Medicare Hospital for treatment.

The report added that the tricycle was a total wreck while the bus incurred damage on its right side front bumper.
