Four passengers die in Ilocos mishap

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Four persons were killed and 14 others were seriously injured after a passenger jeepney plunged into a 30-meter ravine in the remote village of Tiagan in San Emilio, Ilocos Sur last Wednesday. 

The fatalities were identified as Nestor Tungbaban, Valeriana Bitibit, Ludivina Angala and her four-year-old daughter while those injured were brought to different hospitals in Ilocos Sur and La Union.

Initial report reaching this camp disclosed that the victims just came from a reunion in San Emilio town and were on their way home to Kalinga when the incident happened.

The jeep allegedly fell into the ravine after its driver allegedly lost control of the wayward vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve.
