Cuerpo gets Palace reprieve

More than a month after holing up in his office at the town hall and refusing to accept his suspension, Rodri-guez Rizal Mayor Pedro Cuerpo finally got what he had been waiting for – a reprieve from Malacañang.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno said the Office of the President has ordered a stay of the suspension imposed by the provincial government on Cuerpo last Feb. 13.

In effect, Cuerpo can now officially resume as mayor of Rodriguez, he said. – Marvin Sy
