Pampanga cops act on rising car thefts

- Ric Sapnu, -

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Police have formed “Task Group Catch You” that will go after car thieves who have lately been operating with impunity in the province.

Senior Superintendent Keith Ernald Singian, provincial police director, said he also ordered all local police chiefs to beef up their operations against car thieves.

“I am optimistic that within in a week the reported car thefts here would stop,” Singian said.

He said Task Group Catch You would identify, neutralize and prosecute suspected members of car theft syndicates and their financiers.

He designated Superintendent Gregorio Lim, deputy provincial director for operations, as head of the group.

Singian sought the immediate build-up of cases against car thieves and carjackers and suspected dealers of stolen vehicle parts.

He also directed local police chiefs to coordinate with local officials to jointly inspect and conduct an inventory of second-hand spare parts dealers as part of their visitorial powers.
