Ex-Cavite vice mayor, driver hurt in ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A former Cavite vice mayor and his bodyguard-driver were critically wounded in an ambush in Dasmariñas, Cavite, yesterday afternoon.

Reports said Victor Carungcong, former vice mayor of Dasmariñas town, and his driver, Romeo Ong, were waylaid at around 12:30 p.m. as they were cruising Barangay Poblacion on board a Honda CRV.

Police said the victims had just attended an affair in a Muslim center.

Probers were still clueless on the ambush, although they suspect that guns-for-hire pulled it off.
