An unregistered motorized banca sank off Bohol Wednesday night, leaving two female passengers dead and two others missing, the Coast Guard said yesterday.
Lt. Cmdr. Armand Balilo, Coast Guard spokesman, identified the fatalities as Arsenia Ocon and Maria Gumbarda.
In a report, the Coast Guard detachment in Ubay, Bohol said the motorized banca Maj-J left the town at around 5 p.m. Wednesday with 16 passengers and two crewmen.
Two hours later, the banca capsized as big waves battered it some 30 meters away from the coast of Barangay Tugas in President Garcia town. – Edu Punay
