P42-M shabu materials seized

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Some P42-million worth of suspected shabu materials were seized by combined operatives of the Bataan police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a raid in Barangay Calaylayan, Abucay, Bataan, Friday night.

In his report to Chief Superintendent Errol Pan, Police Regional Office-3 (PRO3) director, Senior Superintendent Odelon Ramoneda, Bataan provincial police director, said that the raiding team swooped down on the residence of Emerson Ebido in Barangay Calaylayan at about 9:30 p.m. and arrested him.

Ramoneda said the lawmen were armed with a search warrant No. 310-07, dated Dec. 3, when they raided the house of Ebido.

Confiscated from his residence were one plastic canister containing four chucks of crystalline substance of suspected shabu, and one-half sack of shabu component, Ramoneda said.

The seized items have a street value of some P42 million, according to PDEA officials.

Ramoneda said the house of Ebido has been under surveillance for several weeks before the raid following intelligence reports that the latter has been keeping suspected shabu.

After confirming the reports, he said, a team from the Bataan police and PDEA raided the residence of Ebido.

The confiscated illegal goods were taken to the Bataan, provincial crime laboratory for examination while the suspect was detained at the Abucay police station.

Ramoneda said that appropriate charges have been filed in court yesterday against the suspect. – Ric Sapnu
