2 more bodies in Taal Lake mishap found

-

TALISAY, Batangas – Joint elements of the Philippine Maritime Group and the Philippine Coast Guard recovered the bodies of two more fatalities in last Tuesday night’s sinking of two motorized bancas in Taal Lake.

Senior Superintendent David Quimio, Batangas police director, said the bodies of Vilma Tizon and Arlyn Tolentino were found along the shoreline of Sitio Pira-pirasong Pulo here yesterday morning.

Three other women drowned when strong winds and huge waves spawned by typhoon “Lando” battered their bancas.

They were identified as Josie Rabor and Meann Hernandez, both of Barangay Ambulong, Tanauan City, and Helen Hernandez of Malvar, Batangas.

The five fatalities were among 39 passengers and crew of two motorized bancas who met the accident while on their way home in Barangay Sta. Maria after attending a fiesta in Barangay Bignay.

Eddie Panghulan, Talisay municipal administrator, told The STAR that the Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council would continue searching for the four still missing passengers.
