Clark enforces stricter security, traffic measures

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga – Drivers of smoke-belching vehicles have to steer away from this freeport where stricter traffic rules are now in force.

This, as the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) said its security personnel recently finished anti-terrorism training under the police Regional Mobile Group.

CDC president Liberato Laus said a fleet of new motorcycles will be used in the strict enforcement of traffic rules here. The CDC has also purchased a new firetruck.

“The newly trained personnel and their motorcycles are part of the new security and traffic management schemes now being implemented at Clark,” he said.

Laus said the CDC started enforcing stricter security and traffic measures following the completion of the anti-terrorism training of its special reaction units (SRUs) and turnover of some P15 million in equipment to its public safety department. 

The stricter measures, however, were put in place even before the recent bombing at the Batasan complex in Quezon City.

Laus said the upgraded security and traffic measures “have become  imperative because of the continued development of commercial, industrial, tourism and aviation activities in Clark, plus the growing number of flights at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.”

“There is a need to beef up traffic and security measures to protect life and property, and instill traffic discipline among the motorists entering the freeport zone,” he said.

“Investors have to feel safe and secure inside Clark and we can assure them that the freeport now has a world-class standard in terms of security measures and during emergency cases,” he added.
