Japanese found dead inside hotel room

DAGUPAN CITY – A Japanese national was found dead inside his room at the Star Plaza Hotel here Sunday afternoon and was believed to have committed suicide based on a gunshot wound in his mouth.

Police Officer 2 Dario Ligeralde, duty desk officer at the police station here told The STAR that the fatality was identified as Sei Naito, who is in his 50s or 60s, with no address or other identities available. He was found dead by roomboy/attendant Ronald Clemente with his bloodied body sprawled near his comfort room around 12:56 p.m. Sunday.

Police said based on investigation, Naito checked in alone around 12:56 p.m. Saturday and when the roomboy was about to remind him about his check out, he didn’t respond, prompting hotel employees to forcibly open his room for fear something bad happened to him.

Naito’s body bore a gunshot wound inside his mouth from a caliber 357.

Recovered from the crime scene were one empty shell from the cylinder of the gun and two live ammunitions.

The police have coordinated with the Japanese Embassy for proper identification of Naito.

Naito’s body lies in state at the Carmona Funeral Homes in nearby Calasiao town.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives of the PNP Crime Laboratory in Lingayen town has taken over the technical investigation. An autopsy on Naito’s body was conducted as well as paraffin test.

The police, however, did not find a suicide note but only a leather wallet with P3,700 cash inside it, an empty bottle of beer and another bottle of unconsumed wine.     – Eva Visperas
