Carnappers caught in the act of ‘salvaging’ jeepney spare parts

La Trinidad, Benguet – Six alleged carnappers were cornered in the act of “salvaging” all the parts of their loot in Mabalacat town, Pampanga on Saturday, just a day after they carted it away in La Trinidad, Benguet.

The six: Johnny Batiil; Angel Alayugen; Kristen Balan­cod; Dario Pangilinan; Ronald Allan Rivera Jr., all from the highland Cordillera region and their cohort from Maba­lacat town, Pampanga –Jonie Cabusog will be facing charges before a Benguet court after they were caught stripping the parts of an Isuzu jeepney (AYM 755) that they car­napped midnight of Oct. 31 in KM 3, La Trinidad town.

Cordillera police spokesman Superintendent Arni Emock said Cordillera policemen were alerted on Nov. 1 by a certain Jackson Atiteo that the jeepney owned by Roberto Dumagning was carted away.

Cordillera police led by Chief Superintendent Eugene Martin and the Regional Traffic Management Office in CAR immediately coordinated with all traffic management offices and after a day of searching, Traffic Management Office 3 in Pampanga, local policemen there and Cordillera policemen spotted the vehicle being stripped down.

The suspects were all hauled off to Cordillera and are now detained at the Benguet Provincial Jail after appropriate charges were filed against them. – Artemio Dumlao, Myds Supnad
