SK election winner electrocuted

LANAO DEL NORTE – A newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman here died of electrocution while celebrating his victory with his family and friends at a beach resort on All Saints’ Day, police said.

The victim, 17-year-old Musaab Wahab Faisal, of Barangay Punod, Pantar town, tried to connect a karaoke component to an electric wire although he was still wet from swimming.

Faisal, police said, happened to lean on the post bearing the wire, causing his electrocution.

In a statement, the owner of the beach resort in Linamon town said he had turned down the request of the victim’s group to use his facility since it was no longer in operation, but they still proceeded. – Lino de la Cruz
