12 hurt in cemetery LPG accident

-

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Twelve people, including six children aged four to eight, were injured when fire burst from a leaking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank in a cemetery in Bacoor, Cavite last Thursday afternoon, police said.

Senior Superintendent Fidel Posadas, Cavite police director, said one of the victims was about to heat food using a LPG-fed burner during their stay at the Silangan Memorial Gardens when fire suddenly burst from a leak in the tank’s hose.

An investigator said a lighted candle near the burner could have ignited the leaked gas.

The victims, who sustained first-degree burns, were rushed to the San Juan de Dios Medical Center in Pasay City, police said.   – Arnell Ozaeta
