27 injured in Zambo City road accident

ZAMBOANGA CITY – At least 27 people sustained injuries when a light forward truck slammed into a bus along the Ma. Clara Highway in Barangay Cabaluay here last Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Investigators said the victims were among the passengers of the packed light bus bound for the uphill village of Bongiao when the truck carrying boxes of dried fish rammed into it.

The two vehicles were moving on the same direction toward the eastern coast when the bus pulled on its side to unload passengers.

The truck trailing the bus, however, tried to evade it but failed because of the slippery road. It struck the bus’ rear left side bumper, sending it crashing into the shallow road gutter.

All the victims, including minors and students, were rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment of their cuts and bruises.   – Roel Pareño
