In line with the observance of All Saints’ Day, the Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC), in cooperation with energy company Chevron, is launching a project assuring motorists on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) of a safe, reliable, and enjoyable journey during the holidays.
The PNCC and Chevron Philippines Inc., which markets the Caltex brand of high quality fuels and lubricants, are jointly carrying out the project dubbed “Ka-Road Trip Mo sa Kaligtasan 2007” until early November.
For the pre-departure leg of Ka-Road Trip, Caltex is highlighting and promoting its free car maintenance checkup at designated Caltex stations in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
These vehicle checkups will help motorists ensure that their cars are fit for the road. Not only can they have their cars’ engine oil, brake fluid, battery water or power steering fluid checked, they can also make sure that the electrical parts like the headlights, brake lights, and tail lights are in good working condition, a must for night travel.
The maintenance checks will also cover other car parts such as the hazard and back-up lights, horn, tire (and spare tire) air pressure, tool kits and early warning device.
“We are excited about this partnership and the opportunity it provides to showcase our commitment to safety in our operations and on the road,” said Randy Johnson, Chevron Philippines country chairman.
“The PNCC and Chevron share the same passion for excellence and safety in their operations, making the partnership a good initiative in keeping SLEX safe and reliable for travel,” he added.
PNCC president and chief executive officer Maite Defensor said the company is committed to a progressive Philippines and its role in ensuring the efficient and safe flow of motorists, goods and services to and from the south.
PNCC vice president for operations Manuel Antonio said the entry of Chevron raises the level of road safety consciousness since the company is a proponent of safety on and off the road, making it a suitable partner for such an advocacy.
The two companies is coordinating with other groups such as the Philippine National Red Cross and Metrowatch in setting up service booths and kiosks which will provide medical, towing and mechanical assistance to stranded motorists.
These facilities will be located in Caltex gasoline stations and other strategic points along SLEX.
For recreation, Caltex will set up vendor kiosks and booths which will offer special promotions, freebies, and prizes as part of its ongoing NBA Caravan promo.
