Cavite continues clearing operations in danger zones

-

DASMARIÑAS, Cavite – After the relatively peaceful demolition in two areas in a barangay here last month, the provincial government under Gov. Ayong Maliksi has continued its campaign to dismantle illegal structures along rivers, shorelines and other danger zones.

The Provincial Task Force Against Professional Squatters and Squatting Syndicates has dismantled residential structures illegally built on the riverside near the boundary of Dasmariñas and Gen. Trias.

The task force has identified 78 residential structures that were built along the easement of the river.

Maliksi has ordered the immediate dismantling of these structures to prevent any untoward incidents during natural calamities.

The order is in compliance with Section 28 of Republic Act 7279 or the Urban Development and Housing Act, which allows for the demolition of structures built in danger zones, rivers, waterways and public places.

The recent demolition in Barangay Langkaan II was as peaceful and systematic like the two previous operations in Barangay Langkaan I due to prior planning and consultation in compliance with the regulations of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

The affected families were given P5,000 in financial assistance each by the provincial government.

They will also be entitled to relocation at the Abot-Kamay Hometown Village in Barangay Langkaan I, with the help of the municipal government of Dasmariñas.
