PARANG, Shariff Kabunsuan – More policemen have been deployed in 199 “areas of immediate concern” in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) in connection with the Oct. 29 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Superintendent Danilo Bacas, spokesman of the ARMM police, however, said the areas of concern are only in the “precinct level” and account for just a small percentage of the region’s 2,475 barangays.
Bacas, operations director of the ARMM police, said 207 villages have been classified as “areas of concern,” where security problems that may arise during the polls would be “very manageable” both to the police and local government units. – John Unson
