2 barangays in Pangasinan eyed as hot spots

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan-Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez has recommended two barangays in Pangasinan to be declared as areas of immediate concern for perceived hot political situation and 82 others as areas of concern, for the coming October 29 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Nerez told The Star today that he recommended to the Commission on Elections to declare barangay Nibaliw Vidal in San Fabian town and in Carreido, Tayug town.

He said that the reccomendation was based on the killing of lawyer Alejo Dojillo last September 10 in Nibaliw Vidal as well as the gunslaying of Jaime Tolentino, a candidate for barangay captain in Carreido.

Meanwhile, Nerez said that the 82 barangays, mostly in Western and Eastern parts of the province are eyed as areas of concern because of the possible threats of the New Peoples Army. Eva Visperas
